It's a while since I tried it but as far as I know the problem is that you
can't specify the name of the file which is created when you do this. It
creates a file which is the name of the source xml file with the suffix

This means that creating several different files from one source file and
multiple stylesheets becomes clumsy as you need to rename each generated
file after it's generated before you can do the next file.

You mean, you can't restrict it to just transform a single file using
patterns? What's the problem?
