Since this is two months old and an alpha version and there is a 1.2-release
meanwhile you may try this version
(http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/ant/release/v1.2/bin/).

Another Reason:

Bug-Report #74:
  "Report Description:
If I do a "ant clean" followed by a build, I get the following error when
using jikes as the compiler: compile: [javac] Compiling 556 source files to
D:\Dev\etap\build\classes [javac] [javac] Issued 1 system warning: [javac]
[javac] *** Caution: The input file "jikes" does not have the ".java"
extension. BUILD FAILED build.xml:92: Compile failed, messages should have
been provided. "
Fixed on "Fri Sep 15 07:10:58 2000 UTC " regading to CVS.

I think it will work then.

Nico
