Yes you can do this now. Some kind soul seems to have put this into one of
the nightly builds,
I moaned about the echo not translating properties in this e-mail list a
couple of weeks ago....

I have a "properties" target in my ANT build.xml file which echoes back the
values of the constants,
e.g.

<target name="properties">
	<echo message="base             ${base}"/>
	...
</target>
