Subject DO NOT REPLY [Bug 50485] New: The <available> task should have else attribute
Date Thu, 16 Dec 2010 12:49:15 GMT
https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=50485

           Summary: The <available> task should have else attribute
           Product: Ant
           Version: 1.8.1
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: minor
          Priority: P2
         Component: Core tasks
        AssignedTo: notifications@ant.apache.org
        ReportedBy: rich@steelezone.net

With Ant's awesome new support of true/false properties on if/unless attributes
(a million times thank you, by the way!) it would be nice if the <available>
task supports an else attribute so the property value can be set to false if
the file/resource/whatever isn't available.

There is a workaround, something like:

        <condition property="file-exists" else="false">
            <resourceexists>
                <file file="somefile.xml" />
            </resourceexists>
        </condition>

However, the <available> task is more succinct and (to my eyes) clearly states
the intent.
