Interesting, thanks.
Not a solution to the problem but hopefully a step along the way.
So I think this tells us that the problem is in IvyDE rather than Ivy.
I too have run the retrieve under ant, that is how I got source in my cache.
I have seen that cast error too, but couldn't find it anywhere when I 
searched.
I'm not certain it is relevant, but it might be.
