Subject What notation is Ivy using here?

This is probably a silly question, but please satisfy my curiosity.   I
notice that Ivy refers to artifacts using this notation:
organisation#module;revision!filename
i.e:  prpc#jars;5.3!prpc-5.3jar
 
I've seen this notation elsewhere, what is its name/origin?
