           Summary: PropertyHelper.setProperty() throws NullPointerException
                    when the property value is not a String
           Product: Ant
           Version: 1.7.0
          Platform: Macintosh
        OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.4
            Status: NEW
          Severity: major
          Priority: P2
         Component: Core
        AssignedTo: dev@ant.apache.org
        ReportedBy: abaudoux@gmail.com

ActiveMQ stores non-string objects in system properties, which is legal.
This makes PropertyHelper.setProperty(ns,name,value,verbose), called from Project.setSystemProperties()

throw a NullPointerException.

A check should be added in the Project.setSystemProperties() method when "value" initialized
from

String value = systemP.getProperty(propertyName);

returns null
