Summary: FTP task fails, but reason is unclear
           Product: Ant
           Version: 1.6.5
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Optional Tasks
        AssignedTo: dev@ant.apache.org
        ReportedBy: steve@iokio.com
                CC: steve@iokio.com

Using the optional FTP task, which requires the optional library commons net,
FTP fails under certain situations (not all).

The FTP task implementation in Ant obscures the real cause of the error,
reporting just "error during FTP transfer:
org.apache.commons.net.io.CopyStreamException: IOException caught while copying.".

The real cause was a class not found exception for an ORO library class. Which
I'd missed on the task dependencies list. I suspect other errors might be being
hidden too.

These errors should be better explained, to prevent others having the several
months of problems that I had before I found the cause by writing my own wrapper
task which caught the exception and dumped it fully...

I've found postings online of users experiencing potentially the same problem.
