Yes, I agree with you Matt.  That's why I only suggested that as a fallback -- better than
nothing.  But if you 
can put arbitrary things into a fileset, you still can get a common root for that fileset,
derived from the 
member sets.  So I don't think that's necessary.  [And thanks for answering me, Matt]
