Ant crashes during dependency checking

Summary: Ant crashes during dependency checking
           Product: Ant
           Version: 1.5.3
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Major
          Priority: Other
         Component: Core tasks
        AssignedTo: dev@ant.apache.org
        ReportedBy: stuart_brown@salent.co.uk

java 1.4.2
Linux 2.4.18 using reiserfs, KDE 3.0.

When running our build the PC crashes during the dependency checking - I ran ant
with the -debug commandline option, the machine freezes after the following line:
+User task: dependset org.apache.tools.ant.taskdef.DependSet

Have been using this build file without problems for a year, the only thing that
has changed is that I have merged 2 older projects into one big project; so I
have a more complex fileset expression at the start that excludes a number of
directories. (Previously I did not have any exclude statements in the build file.)

The crash is made more destructive by the fact that on a reboot I find data on
my disk has been corrupted, usually the last file I was editing (not always), it
look slike it is being overwritten with a class file.
