I created a patch for this problem. The problem is demonstrated to exist on
other operating systems as well, although less obvious also here files are kept
open.

The patch closes the file on stop and re-opens the file in append mode on
subsequent starts, to be backward compatible with the current behaviour.

Different to the current behaviour is that when stopped the final BUILD
SUCCESSFUL / FAILED message is not logged. When the logger is not stopped these
messages are logged as usual.
