Subject Thread dump in jdk 1.4 under windows?
Date Fri, 26 Mar 2004 12:48:39 GMT
Hi,

sorry for spamming the dev-list with this :-) but it's been bugging me ever
since we've upgraded our project to java 1.4.

I'm using ant to start my java applications (java fork="true").

Up to jdk 1.4 I was able to get a thread dump by pressing ctrl-break (Windows 2000).
The dump included both the threads of the ant process and the threads of the
executed application, which was extremely nice when debugging deadlock conditions.

With jdk 1.4 or 1.5 and ant 1.5 or 1.6 all I'm getting are the threads of the
ant process.

I know I could just start my application directly with a script and I wouldn't
have any such problems, but I've grown addicted to ant, it's so elegant and
self-documenting to have a couple of run targets in each build file.

If only I could get my thread dumps.

It's obviously because Sun changed something in 1.4 but is there no way to fix
ant so this nice feature will still work?

Maia
