FTP ability to synchronise

           Summary: FTP ability to synchronise
           Product: Ant
           Version: 1.1
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: Other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Enhancement
          Priority: Other
         Component: Optional Tasks
        AssignedTo: dev@ant.apache.org
        ReportedBy: richard.beton@roke.co.uk

The FTP task is an imperfect tool for uploading a website. It is good because
it only need upload changed files and because file filters can flexibly select
the files to be uploaded.

The FTP task is unable to delete from the server files that have been deleted
locally. Adding this as an option would mean that it could be used effectively
to synchronise the local machine with the remote webserver. It would imply that
the remote server only ever contains a proper subset of the files on the local
machine.
