<java> task ignores the append attribute

           Summary: <java> task ignores the append attribute
           Product: Ant
           Version: 1.6.0
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: Other
         Component: Core tasks
        AssignedTo: dev@ant.apache.org
        ReportedBy: emmanuel@ukibi.com

The <java> task ignores the append attribute while redirecting the output and/or error
to a file,
since 1.6.0 (works fine with 1.5.4). output and error files are always overwritten.

It seems that the setAppend(boolean append) method in src/main/org/apache/tools/ant/taskdefs/

should be modified to replace ;

this.append = append;

with :

redirector.setAppend(append);
