1. Does the same problem arise with a recent version of ant from apache?
Specifically Ant1.5.3? 

2. what happens if you run javac from the command line? 

3. try running ant with more memory; you can do this in the apache versions with
something like.
setenv ANT_OPTS -Xmx500m

There could be trouble with one of the jars which is surfacing as an out of
memory error -imagine if something got corrupted in the transfer from windows to
unix.
