In many cases trimming is not desireable IMHO.  It may seems unlikely, but there
always is a chance that people really want/have files with names ending with a
space for example.

Less generally speaking.  For attributes that we know will be used as class names,
trimming would be fine as spaces are not legal in class names.  I'm just not
sure whether we really want to go from consistent behavior "Ant never trims any
attribute values" to something far more difficult to describe - and to maintain.
