I looked quickly at the code, BatchTest only works with filenames indeed, but
JUnitTestRunner performs a "Class.forName" and then instantiates a suite with
"new TestSuite(testClass)". Maybe an additional check on testClass could be
inserted there, something like :

if (!Modifier.isAbstract(testClass.getModifiers)) {
    suite = new TestSuite(testClass);
}
