<java> task does not propogate classpath

           Summary: <java> task does not propogate classpath
           Product: Ant
           Version: 1.5.1
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: Other
         Component: Core tasks
        AssignedTo: ant-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: robert@RobertBlumen.com
                CC: robert@RobertBlumen.com

Setting a classpath in the <java> task:

  <target name="bug">
    <java classname="PrintEnv" fork="false">
      <classpath>
        <pathelement location="."/>
      </classpath>
    </java>

The java program printenv does this:

public class PrintEnv {
    public static void main(String args[]) {
	String cp = System.getProperty("java.class.path");
	System.out.println("PRINTENV classpath " + cp);
    }
}

The output is:
bug:
     [java] PRINTENV classpath c:\java\jakarta-ant-1.5.1\lib\xml-
apis.jar;c:\java\jakarta-ant-1.5.1\lib\xercesImpl.jar;c:\java\jakarta-ant-1.5.1
\lib\optional.jar;c:\java\jakarta-ant-1.5.1\lib\junit-3.8.1.jar;c:\java\jakarta-
ant-1.5.1\lib\bsf.jar;c:\java\jakarta-ant-1.5.1\lib\ant.jar;c:\java\jakarta-ant-
1.5.1\lib\JUnitDoclet-1.0.2.jar;.;c:\java\jakarta-ant-1.5.1
\lib\ant.jar;c:\java\jython-2.1\jython.jar;c:\java\j2sdk1.4.1_01\lib\tools.jar

I know that there is a bug like this that is in the FAQ for
optional tasks, but java is a core task.
