I can't find GBK here http://www.w3.org/TR/1998/REC-xml-19980210#charencoding
I see it is here http://www.iana.org/assignments/character-sets

It is not Ant that does the XML parsing, it is a dedicated XML parser (Ant ships
with Xerces-J, you may be using a version of JDK 1.4 which in turn may use Xerces
or Crimson).  So it is the XML parser you use that doesn't support GBK - and
formally it doesn't have to.  Please file this as an enhancement request against
the XML parser you use.
