FTP depends/newer option does not work

           Summary: FTP depends/newer option does not work
           Product: Ant
           Version: 1.5.1
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows NT/2K
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: Other
         Component: Optional Tasks
        AssignedTo: ant-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: lars@fastrup.net

The depends="yes" option on the FTP task does not work when uploading files to
an IBM AIX 4.3 plafform. The FTP task consequently uploads all specified files
with no respect to the last modified timestamp.

I have tracked it down to the method
isUpToDate(FTPClient ftp, File localFile, String remoteFile) in the FTP.java
file where the lines:

long remoteTimestamp = files[0].getTimestamp().getTime().getTime();
long localTimestamp = localFile.lastModified();

produce results like:

remoteTimestamp = -62167482000000
localTimestamp = 1036573322465

making it quite obvious why depends="yes" does not work.

Maybe there is a bug in the FTPClient class from Net Components library?
