I'm assuming that the comments are eliminated to prevent the presence of a
delimiter on a comment line from submitting the statement.  The other problem
is the submission of nothing but comments.  I'm not sure what the Oracle JDBC
driver would do (much less other databases) with an empty statement.

I have fixes in mind for both issues.  I'll submit an updated patch soon.

I should also note, that the existing code has no recognition of block comments
(/* */).  To handle those the code would have to retain state.  Right now, a
delimiter in the comment block would submit the statement.
