 I notice you used lowercase (@date@) for the other occurences in the 
documentation.  I'd prefer to see the documentation reflect what people tend 
to do, which is put the token name in uppercase (@DATE@). 
 
  If the text processing you run over the documentation source doesn't support 
quoting of @ symbols, try using an HTML character reference instead of one of 
the @ characters e.g. &#64;DATE@ or @DATE&#64;  The first of these two 
examples looks clearer to me, but that's just my opinion.
