The way, you solved this problem now, looks for me as a kind of workaround.

The thing with the endings (-arc, -v, _arc, ....) seems to be ok for me, 
because these are parameter to be set once for the project database(s).

But the detection of the windows/dos-style path in the string should be done 
automatic in the way David Corbett described it (on 2001-09-03), so I do not 
have to create two build.xml files, because two people have mapped the 
filesystem for the project database to different drive letters.

For backward compatibility the parameter linestart could be kept.
