ping & tracert:

aaah, yes of course, I forgot about that. So lets drop ping and tracert.
(The same issue also prevents support for snmp tasks I believe.)

But what do you think about jmx/wbem support in ant 2.0 ?
At sun, a wbem api is being developed within one JSR, as well as JMX remoting 
and JMX 1.5
As soon as these APIs are available, it might be easy to add some nice features 
to Ant which would enable Ant to be used as a sophisticated network management 
tool or a reporting tool that could monitor or check certain conditions and 
emit traps to a management platform.
