means doSomethingElse will be run before default (and hence param1 is unset).

How do you invoke your "default" target to test this?

or

and have project's default attribute point to the target named default?

I don't think this is a Xerces problem (Ant intends to support any JAXP
compliant parser), maybe it is a problem with the WSAG integration you are
using.
