I can only reproduce this when the classpath I set has a bad pointer to the jar 
file that contains the task. Are you sure that's not the case in your 
situation? If you can pick up Ant1.5Beta1 and run it -debug, you can look for 
output that says "dropping <jar_file> from path as it doesn't exist". (With 
1.4.1, the best you'd be able to see is the "Finding <classname>" just after 
the "+Task: taskdef".)
