Yep this is an unfortunate side-effect of current structure of ant. Ant2 will 
hopefully enable a much more decentralized structure where you can drop in 
arbitrary tasks in a far easier fashion.

I would recomend looking at ant-contrib on sourceforge. It has a bunch of 
tasks not developed by ant-dev that look good. The rule lawyers haven't got 
to it yet so it should be much easier to get stuff integrated over there. I 
would love to see you developing tasks and having regular releases over 
there. It may even be possible to include those tasks in ant distribution (at 
least as unsupported by ant-dev) in the future.

I think it is a great idea and would allow much more focused development of 
new task libraries.
