Access to public static fields of an external class

------- Additional Comments From umagesh@apache.org 2002-03-02 02:32 -------
The filterreaders proposal in the sandbox provides a filterreader named
ClassConstants that can read straight-forward constants (access details do not
matter) from a java class. This can be used as an element of <loadproperties>
(which is also still in the proposal stage), to load these constants as
properties. There are a variety of other filterreaders which can also be
chained together if you want to load up just a particular constant, etc. Please
note that the ClassConstants filter reader is dependent upon the Apache BCEL
toolkit (which is external to the core product).
However, I am not suggesting you start using this right away. Once it makes its
way into Ant 1.5, you can start using it. This note is just to let you know
that this enhancement request is being addressed.
