------- Additional Comments From conor@cortexebusiness.com.au  2002-02-14 12:19 -------
I used this complete build file
<project default="agent">
  <target name="agent">
    <antcall target="echo">
      <param name="ejb.name" value="agent"/>
    </antcall>
  </target>

  <target name="echo">
    <echo message="Building ${ejb.name}..."/>
  </target>
</project>

When I run this I get

Buildfile: build.xml

agent:

echo:
     [echo] Building agent...

I can only get the behaviour you describe if I run the echo in the top level context

ant echo
Buildfile: build.xml

echo:
     [echo] Building ${ejb.name}...

BUILD SUCCESSFUL

Can you check how the echo task is being executed. Is there some top level
dependency perhaps related to the initWLS target?
