Corrupting <junit> XML output with System.out.println

Ok, here's a concrete example:

char c = 0;
System.out.println( c );

This will corrupt the resultant XML file, at least such that Xalan 2.2.1 
reports:

[junitreport] The file <filename>.xml is not a valid XML document. It is 
possibly corrupted.
