Subject Re: JOnAS integration into Jakarta/ANT

The dilemma is the current state of most of Ant's "facade" tasks like
<ejbjar>. It requires a change to the task code in order to hook in a new
vendor. This can be fixed by providing a generic subelement that takes a
classname and requires a certain interface to be implemented by any classes
uses there. But currently its hardcoded and inflexible.

I think all committers agree that we don't want Ant to be the dumping ground
of all tasks, and we want vendors to take responsibility for writing,
distributing, and maintaining their own tasks (hopefully in an open-source
manner so that savvy developers can improve/enhance them).

But it is up to us as committers to provide the interfaces for these hooks
and the flexibility to be more easily extensible.

    Erik
