Ability to create a manifest file

Summary: Ability to create a manifest file
           Product: Ant
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Enhancement
          Priority: Other
         Component: Core
        AssignedTo: ant-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: rajangupta@rocketmail.com

There should be a command by which one should be able to create a manifest file
at a location. One of the parameters should be the implementation version.
This will allow the build process to include a manifest file which will be
automatically created & updated with the build version. The build version will
be specified by say the build master on the command line to ant which will be
extracted & used in the parameters to update the implementation version of the
JAR
