one cause may be that you dont have java installed. try typing 'java -version' 
on a command line and verify that you have an up to date copy of java on the 
path. 

Another is that your ANT_HOME directory does not point to where ant is, so 
when ant.bat tries to call some batch files relative to ANT_HOME(specifically 
ANT_HOME/bin/lcp.bat). 

If you think the issue is that, the debug trick is to edit ant.bat, comment 
out (use REM) the first line (@echo off) and then run ant.bat. You will see 
what the ant batch file does, and where the problem is. 

hope this helps. let us know so we can close this off and presumably file 
under the 'user configuration issue' category.
