See the guidelines section on the jakarta website to get a feeling for
how this community works.

Basically, if you want a new feature, you have two options (1)
implement it yourself and send a patch to this list or (2) convince
(bribe 8-) somebody else to implement it.

If (2) is your choice and that somebody is a committer, well, than it
probably has been decided.

In all other cases, the patch will eventually be picked up, maybe
after a long time and maybe without any further comments, by a
committer and that's it.  Sometimes, patches get simply ignored - due
to several reasons, mainly lack of time.  In this case, remind people
of your patch - and please be gentle 8-)

In the special case of <metainf> and <jar>, option (2) kicks in as
you've already found somebody with commit access to implement it.
Unless I hear somebody say "no don't do it", that is.
