I just wanted to point out that standardization
of a Java Logging API is underway. See
http://java.sun.com/aboutJava/communityprocess/review/jsr047/index.html.

The proposal looks fine; my guess is
that all logging frameworks/libs will 
support this Standard API quite soon 
(in the next 3-9 months).

IMHO regarding the logging we should 
wait with redesign until this is available; 
then each ant user could choose his/her
preferred implementation like the 
XML parser now.
