Here is an example using sourcesafe on NT:

    <exec dir="${src.stubs.dir}"  command="ss Checkout -o- -i- -R
$$/SLServer/etc/stubs " />

While i'm here, there is this annoying bug in ant that eats the $, so I have to
put $$ to run my command properly
