When I try to add service from UI, the configuration and installation wizard shows up and it completes within a second showing success. As you correctly figured out, it actually doesn't try to install anything (not sure what it does). I tried to make component as SLAVE as cardinality as 1+ as per suggestion, but that also didn't help. I would move this question to Dev to reach to right audience. About properties, I expect those properties to show up on UI, but if user wish to leave them blank the installation should proceed. Right now the fields turn red, indicating they are mandatory fields (when I don't have any default values defined in config file). -Priyanka On Thu, Apr 14, 2016 at 9:40 PM, Mithun Mathew wrote: > Hi Priyanka > > - When you clicked Add Service from the UI, what did you see? Thanks a lot for revert Mithun.

When I try to add service from UI, the configuration and installation wiz= ard shows up and it completes within a second showing success. As you corre= ctly figured out, it actually doesn't try to install anything (not sure= what it does). I tried to make component as SLAVE as cardinality as 1+ as = per suggestion, but that also didn't help. I would move this question t= o Dev to reach to right audience.

About properties, I expect t= hose properties to show up on UI, but if user wish to leave them blank the = installation should proceed. Right now the fields turn red, indicating they= are mandatory fields (when I don't have any default values defined in = config file).

Make the component as SLAVE with cardinality 1+. This would force th= e Add Service wizard to choose the hosts on which you can install your comp= onent. Example of service which has only slave components:=C2=A0https://github.com/apache/am= bari/tree/trunk/ambari-server/src/main/resources/common-services/PXF/3.0.0<= /a>

Hi,

I am tryi= ng to write a service to install our product package though ambari. I have = written simple scripts as per guidelines, here is the code for same: https://= github.com/DT-Priyanka/AmbariDTRTS

I am facing following p= roblems:
1. My install scripts are not getting invoked. I tried pu= tting some log/print messages to confirm that. When I run install service f= rom UI, it exits within a second giving green status.
(I have not = written service_check script, could that be a problem?)

2. Wha= t is the way to mark configurations parameters optional? Whatever parameter= s I include in my config xml file, I need to provide them in UI, if I haven= 't specified defaults. How can I mark them as optional?

An= y help on this is really appreciated.

Thanks,
Priyank= a
