?Hi Christian,

Since the work will have to be committed in Ambari, This work can be tracked as an Ambari

A new service definition for Apache Geode can be added to common-services

A stack definition can be easily configured by cherry-picking any combination of these common-services.

So Apache Geode will be then available to any stack that wants to use it.

Ambari wiki is a good place to understand more about creating a new service definition.

Helpful links to create a service definition:

You can also look at any existing common-service for a reference (may be Atlas<>

Subject: Apache Geode Service for Ambari

Hello guys,

We have been working on Ambari Service implementation for the Apache Goede project (

The initaial work started under Goede ( but
it became clear that from a tehically standpoint this work is better fited with the Ambari
development rather than Geode.

I would appreciate your thoughts on how we can contribute this work to Ambari. IMHO, Geode
could be a good candidate for an Ambari common services.
