Subject [jira] [Created] (AMBARI-16413) Ambari server does not start because of permission issues on symbolic links
Date Tue, 10 May 2016 00:27:12 GMT
Nahappan Somasundaram created AMBARI-16413:
----------------------------------------------

Summary: Ambari server does not start because of permission issues on symbolic
links
                 Key: AMBARI-16413
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AMBARI-16413
             Project: Ambari
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: ambari-server
    Affects Versions: 2.4.0
         Environment: Linux
            Reporter: Nahappan Somasundaram
            Assignee: Nahappan Somasundaram
            Priority: Blocker
             Fix For: 2.4.0

When setting up ambari-server with a non-root user, ownership change on various log files
and other files do not work when those files are in a symbolic linked folder.

Fix: When doing a chown -R <folder>, specify the -L option to traverse every symbolic
link.
