Chris Buccella commented on AMBARI-12413:
-----------------------------------------

I've done some investigation into this. What I see is the install failing when {{python db_setup.py
-javapatch}} is called, due to {{java patch PatchPasswordEncryption_J10001 failed: No database
selected}}.

The cause of this is {{ranger-admin-site.xml}} having the wrong values for {{ranger.jpa.jdbc.url}}
(and also {{ranger.jpa.audit.jdbc.url}})

I believe this is a regression introduced by AMBARI-11337

> Deploying a cluster with Ranger is not currently possible/supported via the Blueprints
mechanism.
> Currently, the only way to deploy Ranger is to add the service using the Ambari UI Wizard
after the cluster has been created.
> There should be a way to bootstrap a cluster with Ranger using Blueprints.
> This issue will track the investigation required to determine any changes needed to support
Ranger deployments, as well as the fixes applied to support this in Blueprints.
