During the prerequisite checks, any of the existing checks that prevent the upgrade from starting based on stack distribution or host availability will need to be modified to exclude unhealthy hosts. 

A new prerequisite check will also be created to warn the administrator that there are hosts which are in maintenance mode and will not be upgraded. This warning is for informational purposes only and will not stop the upgrade.
