Subject [jira] [Created] (AMBARI-12836) During upgrade, ALTER statements to change nullability of columns are not taking effect
Date Thu, 20 Aug 2015 16:24:46 GMT
Dmytro Sen created AMBARI-12836:
-----------------------------------

             Summary: During upgrade, ALTER statements to change nullability of columns are
not taking effect
                 Key: AMBARI-12836
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AMBARI-12836
             Project: Ambari
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: ambari-server, ambari-upgrade
    Affects Versions: 2.1.0
            Reporter: Dmytro Sen
            Assignee: Dmytro Sen
            Priority: Blocker
             Fix For: 2.1.1

I think that the alterColumn in the upgrade catalog may not be working.
{code}
dbAccessor.alterColumn("viewinstanceproperty", new DBColumnInfo("value",
    String.class, 2000, null, true));{code}
Performed a deployment of 1.6.1 and upgraded to 2.0.1. The column is still not nullable. Sort
of what the EAR is indicating.

{code}ambari=> \d+ viewinstanceproperty;
                        Table "ambari.viewinstanceproperty"
       Column       |          Type           | Modifiers | Storage  | Description
--------------------+-------------------------+-----------+----------+-------------
 view_name          | character varying(255)  | not null  | extended |
 view_instance_name | character varying(255)  | not null  | extended |
 name               | character varying(255)  | not null  | extended |
 value              | character varying(2000) | not null  | extended |
{code}
