Subject [jira] [Created] (AMBARI-8350) Usability: confusing typeahead widget for host selection when there are more than 25 hosts in the cluster
Date Mon, 17 Nov 2014 17:20:33 GMT
Oleg Nechiporenko created AMBARI-8350:
-----------------------------------------

Summary: Usability: confusing typeahead widget for host selection when there
are more than 25 hosts in the cluster
                 Key: AMBARI-8350
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AMBARI-8350
             Project: Ambari
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: ambari-web
    Affects Versions: 2.0.0
            Reporter: Oleg Nechiporenko
            Assignee: Oleg Nechiporenko
             Fix For: 2.0.0

When there are more than 25 hosts in the cluster, the host selection pulldown turns into a
type-ahead text field.
This is a common widget that is used for various pages like Installer > Assign Masters,
Move > Select Target Host, etc.
The problem is that if you copy paste the hostname directly, the UI shows RED . The user
has to know to click or hit enter on the suggested hostname (which is the same as the user
pasted in but with RAM and # cores. Also, when the user makes this selection, the text field
shows RAM & # cores.

1. It should just work if the user copy pastes a valid hostname
2. Once a selection is made from type ahead, the text field value should NOT include RAM &
# cores.
