Subject [jira] [Created] (AMBARI-6302) HCatalog should not be managed as separate service
Date Fri, 27 Jun 2014 02:42:25 GMT
Jaimin D Jetly created AMBARI-6302:

Summary: HCatalog should not be managed as separate service
                 Key: AMBARI-6302
             Project: Ambari
          Issue Type: Bug
    Affects Versions: 1.7.0
            Reporter: Jaimin D Jetly
            Assignee: Jaimin D Jetly
             Fix For: 1.7.0

HCatalog is defined as a service with one client component HCAT.
HCatalog service definition is declared in HIVE metainfo.xml instead defining in it's own
folder in the stack.
ambari web does not show HCatalog on service bar as client only service after installation.
When Hcatalog Service configurations are looked in the stacks API, it shows all hive-site

Considering above mentioned points, It’s more intuitive to remove HCatalog from service
definition on server and make HCAT as client component of Hive service.

The resolution of this ticket will result into a new requirement in the ambari upgrade-path.
