Subject [jira] [Created] (AMBARI-1636) Automatically add "stragglers" (unavailable) machines to a cluster after initial set up
Date Thu, 14 Mar 2013 00:42:14 GMT
Mitch Wyle created AMBARI-1636:
----------------------------------

Summary: Automatically add "stragglers" (unavailable) machines to a cluster after
initial set up
                 Key: AMBARI-1636
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AMBARI-1636
             Project: Ambari
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: controller
            Reporter: Mitch Wyle

In “the real world” large Hadoop clusters will always have hosts that are down, unavailable,
or experiencing transient failures. Robust, mature, recovery-oriented distributed systems
such as Ambari should always recover from these transient failures automatically without human
intervention (zero touch). Consider polling periodically for missing nodes that were not
set up initially and adding them as they appear.
