Subject Re: Adding services in cluster
Date Tue, 19 Mar 2013 13:59:13 GMT
Hi Vivek,

Currently, the web UI does not support adding services to an existing cluster.
The current Ambari API fully supports the capability to add services,
but some more work is needed on the Ambari Web UI side to make this
feature available (work is in progress).
Removing services is not something that is not supported by the API yet.

Ambari currently supports adding new hosts to the cluster and assign
DataNode, TaskTracker, and RegionServer roles to these newly added
hosts. Work is in progress to allow adding ZooKeeper Servers and
HBase Masters as well.

A newly added feature allows the user to add DataNode, TaskTracker,
and RegionServer roles to existing hosts, if these hosts do not have
these roles already: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AMBARI-1663

Work is in progress to allow moving master components (such as
NameNode, JobTracker, etc) to another host:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AMBARI-1513
