Subject ActiveMQ Trigger Monitor for As/400
Date Thu, 05 Jan 2017 15:32:06 GMT
We are looking at the options to use Apache's ActiveMQ on our AS/400 systems.
However we are not sure if it's possible to trigger a rpg app\program on
AS/400 based on a message arrival in a queue.
The forums\articles I have found so far seems to indicate that messages need
to be pulled from queues for which a process\polling job need to runs
regularly (either as a daemon or a cron). Is it possible to turn this into a
push mechanism? That is, is there a way to have the Message Queue actually
initiate a program\process when a message arrives? We have this feature
available in the MQ which is currently running on our AS/400 system.
