So setting ?trace=true should add a transport filter to the transports that
is in this class:
org.apache.activemq.transport.TransportLogger

Can you try with the following settings

log4j.logger.org.apache.activemq.transport.TransportLogger=TRACE, stomp


to get the logging you want?
