Resolved.
I was able to use the JVM Mbean server with:

<camelContext id="camel" 
xmlns="http://activemq.apache.org/camel/schema/spring">
    <jmxAgent id="Camel-JMX-Agent"
                       usePlatformMBeanServer ="true"
                       createConnector="true" />

</camel>
