I'm under the assumption that message delivery mode is by default set to
'PERSISTENT'. See the JMS API:
http://java.sun.com/products/jms/docs.html

Specifically check out the documentation for 'javax.jms.MessageProducer'.
Check out method 'setDeliveryMode', see quote:

"Delivery mode is set to PERSISTENT by default."
